Jim McKenzie was one of two keynote speakers for our Edvance Christian Schools Association annual Educators Convention in Ontario, attended by over 800 educators. Jim addressed us twice on the final day of the conference with his keynotes “Do Something” and “Future Ready.” And he did it with attention to our own Edvance context, honouring our past work in this regard, even taking the time to celebrate a specific learning story from one of our own schools that embodied his focus.
His communication skills as a presenter are top-notch. He was meticulously prepared in his delivery; he engaged his audience with great humour and playful seriousness. With nearly 30 years of experience in Christian education, Jim has a remarkable ability to connect the heart of the Gospel with the daily realities of teaching, offering insights that are both spiritually rich and immediately practical. He is uniquely gifted in his ability to communicate with educators – both challenging and encouraging them – with a clarity and warmth that resonates long after his teaching ends. After his time with us, our teachers left not only equipped with practical tools they could immediately implement in the classroom, but also deeply encouraged in their calling to shape the next generation through Christ-centered education. Jim has not only been gifted in his ability to speak to educators, but to inspire them in their ministering to others through their teaching.

For the past decade, King’s Way Christian Schools has typically invited a staff member or local pastor to serve as our graduation speaker. This year, our leadership team desired to begin a new tradition by bringing in a guest of national prominence in the Christian school community. We believed graduation would be the perfect occasion to make this shift.
Jim McKenzie was the ideal choice. Widely respected among Christian schools nationwide, Jim is not only a leader in the movement but also a published author and TED Talk presenter. For his commencement address, Jim delivered the final chapter of his book, offering an engaging, inspiring, and challenging message to our graduates, their families, and our guests.
