Jim McKenzie brought an unforgettable depth and intentionality to our Professional Development training at NRCA, engaging personally with our staff in a way that made every teacher feel seen, heard, and valued. With nearly 30 years of experience in Christian education, Jim has a remarkable ability to connect the heart of the Gospel with the daily realities of teaching, offering insights that are both spiritually rich and immediately practical. He is uniquely gifted in his ability to communicate with educators – both challenging and encouraging them – with a clarity and warmth that resonates long after his teaching ends. After his time with us, our teachers left not only equipped with practical tools they could immediately implement in the classroom, but also deeply encouraged in their calling to shape the next generation through Christ-centered education. Jim has not only been gifted in his ability to speak to educators, but to inspire them in their ministering to others through their teaching.

We had the pleasure of hosting Jim McKenzie at our end-of-year professional development event. Jim has a blend of intellect, wit, and deep spiritual insight. He delivered a message that was both thought-provoking and deeply encouraging. Grounded in a strong biblical worldview, Jim spoke with humility and authenticity, drawing from his own experiences in education, leadership, and life. It was evident that he carries a genuine heart for teachers, families, and students. What do you do when you’ve got over 100 middle schoolers who need meaningful learning while every teacher is away at professional development? Simple. You call Jim McKenzie.
When we first asked Jim to take on the challenge of engaging our entire seventh and eighth grade for a full school day, he paused (who wouldn’t?)—but then he jumped in with both feet. And we are so glad he did.
From the moment Jim set foot on campus, he captivated our students. With energy, clarity, and heart, he walked them through the four questions of the biblical metanarrative, inviting them not just to listen but to truly interact, worship, and think deeply. This wasn’t just “filling a day”—it was transformative.
Jim’s time with our students sparked spiritual growth and ignited a larger schoolwide initiative: intentionally framing all learning through the lens of Creation, Fall, Redemption, and Restoration. The ripple effect of that one day is still shaping how we teach and how our students see the world.

For the past decade, King’s Way Christian Schools has typically invited a staff member or local pastor to serve as our graduation speaker. This year, our leadership team desired to begin a new tradition by bringing in a guest of national prominence in the Christian school community. We believed graduation would be the perfect occasion to make this shift.

For his commencement address, Jim delivered the final chapter of his book, offering an engaging, inspiring, and challenging message to our graduates, their families, and our guests.
